Stay Festive and Chic this Holiday Season

The world of women’s fashion can be a tricky place to navigate. There’s an entire laundry list of rules, but they are all simply “understood.” There’s no rule book that explains all the ins and outs of fashion, and there never will be. Why? Because the rules are constantly changing.
The color red has proved particularly tricky for people to figure out in the past. When worn around Valentine’s Day or Christmas, the color can seem gimmicky. Still, it’s a wonderfully deep and rich color that can add a lot to your autumn and winter wardrobe. So how do you wear red without looking like you’re in a holiday-themed costume?
The key is to make it understated and luxurious. A red sweater-especially anything with designs like autumn leaves or Santa’s reindeer-can seem tacky. But if you wear a cowl neck sweater in red cashmere with pinstripe black slacks, that’s an entirely different feel.
Fashionable Garb for the Casual Football Fan
At long last, it’s an exciting time to be a sports fan in Philadelphia. If you had told me just two years ago that the Phillies would be competing for their second straight World Series title and the Eagles would be tops in their division, I would have called you crazy. As always, the hardest part about this sudden rash of success has been finding time to follow my beloved teams. Last week I had to balance work and Halloween parties with my rabid fandom.
My girlfriend cannot be persuaded to watch baseball, and frankly I can’t blame her. It’s a slow game that can only truly be appreciated by someone who follows the sport for most of the year. She’s much more engrossed with the Eagles, though. Their season is only 16 games long, and every matchup matters. She even wears her green and white womens football jersey to home games at Lincoln Financial Field.
Women’s Gifts
As a guy it’s not always easy to shop for your wife, or girlfriend during the holiday season. You want to buy something the woman in your life something she will enjoy of course, but you also want to surprise her with something she doesn’t expect. Here are a few ideas for all the guys out there who are clueless about what to buy.
~Jewelry; a thoughtful piece of jewelry is sure to please her, even if it’s the kind of thing she will only wear on a special occasion
~Designer womens clothing; the woman in your life will be quite impressed if you buy her designer clothing; consider tops, dresses, or shoes. The difficult part is figuring out her size!
~Handbags; whether from a reputable designer or a knockoff, if it’s high fashion and high quality she will like it.
Sorting through a Shoe Collection
When my husband proposed to me late last year, he did it in the most romantic manner possible. We were back at our old university town, the place where we met, to catch up with old friends. That’s when we took a stroll down by the river and he dropped to one knee. It was also among the funniest marriage proposals I’ve heard of in that he combined it with an ultimatum: I had to get my shoe collection under control.
It’s true, I’m a bit of a footwear fanatic. Back when we were still dating, my husband would be forever tripping over the enormous pile of shoes in my walk-in closet that he dubbed “Mount Shoe.” I realized it was time to organize them in a tidy manner, especially if we were going to move into a new house. In the end, I ditched several dozen pairs and kept only the brands and styles that I couldn’t do without. New Balance womens shoes were at the top of the list.
