Telltale Signs

keysObservant people know that you can tell a lot about a person by the products they buy and the clothing they wear. I’m not saying you should go against the old adage of never judging a book by its cover, but a person’s purchasing decisions often reflect something of their basic worldview. Purchasing womens designer fashion certainly says something about the person-whether it’s that they are snooty or simply like nice clothing is up for you to determine. Even people who seem to have a lack of style and appreciation for fashion reflect that negation of their fashion through their clothing.

Another item that often gives insight into a person’s lifestyle is their keys. Everyone knows that the key chain depicts something that has some level of significance to the person, but the number of keys is also telling. For example, when I was in college, I only had two keys on my key chain, but now that I am married with kids, my ring is almost full.

I Finally Found Her

woman footballMany guys lament having a girlfriend or significant other because it often detracts from the time typically devoted to sports, videogames and other stereotypical male pastimes. When I was single, I promised myself that I would never be one of those guys who sacrifices all aspects of their personal life for a woman-and I kept that oath. But it did force me to stay single until I was 47.

It definitely took a while, but I’ve finally found that perfect woman. She is the perfect juxtaposition of all the qualities I’ve been looking for in a significant other. On weekends she dons a womens football jersey and we spend hours on end watching sports and eating junk food on the couch. Not only that, but she never complains when my friends come over or harps on me to do any sort of work around the house.

The New Line from Adidas

adidasIn the sports world, innovations are constantly being made to existing sportswear and equipment to enhance an athlete’s performance. Adidas has always been in the forefront of sportswear and footwear innovations. Only recently, they have come out with the new line Adidas womens shoes. Many different professional athletes were consulted and involved in this project.  Because of this the Adidas Climacool line’s popularity has increased among most pro athletes.

The basic premise of this line is it is made with breathable materials that keep the feet from getting overheated and “cooked” inside the shoe.  It’s lightweight and comfortable. The designs are very stylish and streamlined. Another cool thing about this shoe is that it “wicks” or absorbs moisture away from the foot. This way, the feet remain dry and the onset of foul odors is prevented.

Don’t Get Caught In the Rain

inrainAs a native of the Pacific Northwest, I understand how important it is to own good quality outdoor women’s clothing. Because this area gets so much rain and even some snow in the winter, it’s important to have a good waterproof, hooded coat with a removable lining. These types of coats can also double as ski coats during the winter. Rain boots are also a needed supply for Northwest living.

One of my friends recently moved to Seattle from Los Angeles, and she definitely wasn’t prepared for the change in weather. She arrived in June, and apparently she expected to wear short shorts and flip flops all summer. She was rudely awakened when it rained for about two weeks straight, and she had to wear pants and a jacket. I always tell everyone don’t expect a month here when you won’t have to wear your coat and rain boots sometime.

Some Trends Sneak Up on You

newbalanceThe younger generation gets its fashion cues from icons that pervade the Internet and cable channels. Professional basketball players such as LeBron James and hip-hop musicians like Kanye West inform plenty of shoe purchases in rural areas as well as the inner city. These stars know that high-class functions call for dress shoes, but they also demonstrate taste in sneakers.

Thousands of adherents follow along with sneaker culture; they keep up with the rapidly evolving fashion trends and try to anticipate the hottest new shoe lines. There are dozens of Web sites and print magazines devoted to chronicling the casual shoe scene. Some avid collectors buy two pairs at a time – one to wear and another to save for posterity. Don’t be surprised to see sneaker museums popping up in the not-too-distant future featuring Nike and New Balance womens shoes because the trend is just that hot.

Last Minute Birthday Shopping

womens polo shirtsMy wife’s birthday was coming up, and I needed to shop for gifts in time for the dinner we planned for the day. Instead of buying just one shirt or a special belt, I decided to give her a new wardrobe from head to toe. I also decided to shop at the newly opened consignment store downtown, which I have been hearing rave reviews about.

I didn’t know I was in for a surprise, though. The “store” turned out to be a huge warehouse converted into a shopping wonderland. Shopping for some womens polo shirts was a dizzying affair; I had only planned on buying one but ended up getting three. I also wound up with two new skirts, five belts, and three new pairs of socks. I was so excited about shopping in the place that I didn’t think about how I will wrap those clothes. And I certainly can’t give it to her straight from the paper bag, can I?

Dress Like a Celebrity on a Budget

shoppingOne of the easiest ways to blow your budget is on extra, non-essential items such as clothing, accessories, or shoes. These items tend to be extremely expensive, and they don’t remain relevant in your closet for long with shifting trends always in play.

But that doesn’t mean that people on a budget have to abandon all hopes of restocking their wardrobes. It just means they have to be smart about where they shop. The best places for shopping on a budget include online auction sites and brick-and-mortar thrift stores. You can find amazing discount womens clothing that have the same designs as garments three or four times the price.

Unraveling Women’s Fashion

modelWhen used I see runway models strutting around in elaborate and highly impractical clothing, I always wondered what the purpose was. At high-profile fashion shows, the vast majority of womens clothing that you see flaunted on the runway would never be worn in day-to-day life. My sister was flipping through a fashion magazine last week that featured some of these costume-like fashion styles, and I asked her what the appeal was.

She told me that most of the clothing that is introduced at these major fashion shows isn’t intended to be worn by the general public. Rather, the fashions that are on display are representative of current trends in the fashion industry and serve as a harbinger for what we will see on store shelves. When you look at this year’s hottest styles, chances are they will be reminiscent of something you’ve seen on the runway.

Paradise for Clothes Makers

WomanDelightsWomensDesignerFashionTextiles don’t sound too exciting to the average person. That’s because most people prefer to purchase clothing that has already been designed and sewn for them. But if you’re one of those creative types, like me, you know that planning and producing your own clothes can be more fun than a birthday party. You probably also know how magnificently rewarding it feels to wear your newly crafted item and receive a compliment. It never gets old!

For closet clothing makers or aspiring creators of women’s designer fashion, a trip to the fabric store is like a mini vacation to paradise. There are so many kinds of fabrics to choose from, your next project could take a turn in any direction. Without a plan in mind, I’ve been inspired to create two backpack purses, an apron, a skirt and pajama pants just from wandering around the giant warehouse of threads. Next time you pass the fabric store, take a look around – I dare you – and see what inspires you.

Fashion That Will Never Go Out of Style

Fashion is a world of trends and fads, and it can be difficult to keep up with everything. So if you want to avoid some of those purchases that result in slapped foreheads and overflowing closets, stick to classic women’s clothing and accessory choices. The following are a few of these classic choices that every fashionista should have in her closet.-Little black dress. It might be a cliché, but at least it’s a fashionable cliché. Every woman should have this staple for the simple reason that it’s a blank canvas. Worn with different shoes, jewelry, and jackets, it’s a continually fresh and fashionable choice.

-Pearl necklace. If you’re confused about what makes a classic fashion item, just look at photos of what Jackie O used to wear. Even though those styles were donned in the 60s and 70s, they are still relevant today. And what was one of her signature looks? You guessed it-the pearl necklace.

-Tailored trench coat. Even though the current runways are filled with voluminous bubble skirts and flowing tops, this look will never usurp the flattering and classic look of a nicely structured and perfectly tailored coat. Just ask Burberry or Marc Jacobs.
